UNDERWEAR SOLUTIONS: SHAPEWEAR AND MORE

So you got yourself a stunning September Bridal dress. Congrats! If you're wondering what to wear underneath your beautiful gown, sorry to tell you - it's going to be either a real DIY cut-and-paste situation or spandex upon spandex.

We're all about making your life easier so here's a list of underwear we would pair with our dresses.

THE LOW BACK

Got yourself a low back situation where you want to have some extra shape in the front without spandex peeping out in the back? Invest in a low back shapewear, like Dana did, wearing the Luna by Edwina O'Gorman. Our friend Kim (Skims) can help you out. Another option is cutting regular height shapewear to the shape of your dress.

THE OPEN BACK

Open back + regular bra = not a match made in Heaven, unlike Charlotte and her ASAR outfit. This calls for boob tape, and we find Magicbodyfashion, Nood and Litchy the best. Fear not, it lifts any kind of boob. From A cups to double D's, all you need to do is do a practise round (or 2) to find the best way to stick the tape so you can recreate it in a flash on your big day.

THE DEEP V NECK

Oh so elegant and timeless - a deep v neck style dress, like Luna from Edwina O'Gorman (yeah, we're obsessed with this one). What you will need to feel safe and secure is another stick on solution. Look for drop shaped pre cut forms, long strips of boob tape that taper at the end or just a simple roll of the good stuff so you can create your own bra.

Another solution is a low cut out bra, like Wonderbra makes.

THE HIGH SPLIT

Want to show off a little bit of leg but still feel smoothed out, sexy and secure - just like Naomi in her strapless gown? Living in the 21st century was never so exciting - miss Kim has the solution for you: a one leg shapewear.

Another option could be regular high waisted, short legged shapewear that covers your bum so it doesn't leave an awkward seam across.

THE STRAPLESS GOWN

Scared it's going to fall down? Don't be. With professional alterations and buying the right size, we make sure your dress fits like a glove, like Laura's dress from Alena Leena. Look for something without any details, a wide back strap, silicone anti-slip edge and a bit of support under the cups, like this one from Simone Pérèle.

A quality stretchy tube top also works, or even a corset style strapless bra. Try a sticky bra if you want a little bit more volume.

THE FLOWY BITS

Not specifically looking for an underwear solution but want to keep your dress from falling off your shoulders or revealing a little too much? What you need is fashion tape, or dress tape. These little pieces of transparent double sided tape will stay put so you can wear your dress how you imagined it, like Iciar with her almost off the shoulder Elder dress by Edwina O'Gorman.

Poirier and Magicbodyfashion both have handy little strips. Please note that this is not like boob tape.

We got most things covered in this post, but if you believe we missed one, we will deep dive for the perfect underwear solution. Like bridal fashion, underwear and shapewear is super personal. We can guide you in the right direction but in the end no one shapewear rules them all, and more importantly, it's how you want to wear it!

Shapewear isn't a must but it does help to create a smooth line, eliminates lumps and bumps from decorative underwear, make you look snatched, gives you confidence, and more.
